Original vintage “PUBLIC TELEPHONE” enamel advertising sign. A striking old British sign with raised white lettering on a deep blue enamel ground and a white pinstripe border. A lovely display piece for a telephone, transport, railway, industrial or general advertising collection. Approximate size: 46 × 31 cm / 18 × 12 inches. Genuine period enamel sign-not a modern reproduction. The sign remains highly presentable with good strong colour and gloss. It has age-related enamel loss, rusting and chips around the edges, corners, mounting holes and in several places across the lettering. There are also surface marks and scratches from years of use. The reverse has extensive surface oxidation, as shown. Four original corner mounting holes are present. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the condition clearly. A scarce and very decorative piece of original British telephone history. Collection is also welcome.
