Large Vintage 1960s Bruce Peebles Edinburgh Enamelled Sign Plaque – 96.5cm. A large vintage Bruce Peebles Edinburgh enamelled heavy gauge alloy makers sign or plaque that would have been mounted on equipment such as large transformers, etc, (see third photo as an example), circa 1960s : the alloy sign with 4 corner bolt holes for mounting and finished in red enamel with white text. Please Note : the sign is not vitreous (porcelain) enamel but a hard paint type enamel Bruce Peebles of Edinburgh were a well known industrial electrical engineering company who made large scale transformers for power stations (including the world’s largest quadrature booster for the UK National Grid), electrical motors for railway locomotives, hydro-electric plant, etc. Size : Approx 38″ x 20″ at widest points, 1/4 thick, 7.5Kg Condition : Overall good but well used vintage condition with expected marks / wear / scratches / paint losses / chips / scuffing, etc, consistent with it’s age and use, the main point being the sign is warped due to being mounted and with areas of paint (see last 9 photos), displays well.
