14K Gold Enamel CIRCLE Pin Pendant Signed Ex Cond 3.8 Grams Vtg Guilloche Brooch. Versatile and easy to wear, this 14 Karat Yellow Gold and Blue Guilloche Enamel Pin / Pendant is a perennial Classic – and so useful! The pin findings surmount “brackets” on the back, to accommodate fabric, ribbon or a chain (and it makes a perfect scarf pin). The shade of enamel is somewhere between Sky Blue and Cornflower and is simply stunning. The patterns under the enamel remind me of those left by the waves on a wind swept beach at low tide and appear to have actual dimension, as if carved. The bands of gold at both ends are notched or crimped, which adds to the interest, color and shimmering, flowing patterns and frames the enamel, setting it off like a painting. It stands out strikingly as it will when you wear it and of course, the fabric against which it is worn will become part of the design. Simply elegant and elegantly simple, with motion, color and use of negative space, the brooch looks good on everything. Beautifully made, it measures about 1 diameter and weighs 3.8 grams. The brackets have an inside width of a little over 5/8, ideal for a silk scarf. On the back of the early style safety latch, it is signed “14K” below what looks like an arrowhead or a spade with a “c” inside, which is a little hard to make out but looks like the mark for Carter Howe (and later, Gough). It is in Excellent vintage condition with just expected surface dirt, light scratches and tarnish (on the back). Absolutely nothing of consequence. Please forgive the poor photos with their shadows, reflections, glare and dark spots; the piece is Much nicer in person. Elegant, eye-catching and appropriate to any occasion, this brooch will go with everything and is one you will find you wear all the time, night or day, to work or play. It would make a fine present, but is so all-purpose, I doubt you will want to part with it, and will come to you in a gift box, just in case.
