Genuine Vintage 1970s Huge Ice Cream shop Trade Advertising Sign. Would have somehow been attached to the outside of the shop so people from a distance could. I have 2 of these (This one in slightly better condition than the other). Made of plywood and hand painted. It still has the original steel flat head screws and bolts attached. Very large in size and probably a one off piece made for a local shop. Has good old paint peel and flaking just as it should for its age. The condition is good overall although the bottom has rotted off where it’s been left sitting for many years. It also has bits of old wood worm (I’ve treated this) and 2 letters scratched into the ice cream part (not too noticable). Good large size measuring 115cm tall x 84cm wide x 8cm deep (see 2nd photo for scale). A very rare shop trade sign that would look great in any collection.

An early opticians’s trade sign. A wonderful 19th century, double sided, hand painted timber trade sign, delightfully original & untouched with the perfect patina. The gilding is entirely original, as is the surrounding paintwork with a pleasing subtle craquelure finish. Finished with the sign writers name,’Tom Billinton’, to the lower edge & with two original hanging hooks to the top to hang. An exceptional & handsome example. 80cm x 44cm x 7cm. Wear commensurate with age, very good condition overall showing minor signs of it’s past making it what is is today, non structural crack running across one side & a slight bow, just as it should be. Two hooks to the top which can be used to hang it or removed for a flush wall mount. Amazing original enamel pieces set up as a triptych piece. Formerly of a large sign these section were saved and have been presented in what makes for a cool decorative wall piece, place them as you wish, horizontally, vertically, diagonally. Placed onto a ply backing and fred with timber mouldings. Losses and wear to the signs as can can seen and as is common place. Length is shown in the photos. As is often the case the edges of the sign were damaged so it was placed onto a sheet of mdf and has had a timber frame added to clean in its display potential, can be painted as you wish. A large watchmaker’s trade sign in the form of a giant pocket watch. A wonderful piece of advertising which would have hung outside a watchmaker’s or jeweller’s. Double sided & made from a single piece of hand painted sheet metal & topped with a riveted iron bracket. The paintwork has developed a good patina & fantastic craquelure texture & both sides are finished with the watchmaker’s name across the centre. A beautiful & very decorative example.
