Vintage Japanese enamel steel kanban (shop sign). Text basically says the name’Hinomaru’ in the red sun motif and’main store’ underneath. Seems to be a general store of some kind. Although the text is rather vague, this is in keeping with a low context culture where knowledge is assumed and thus extraneous information unnecessary. 42cmx23 not including the hooks.

Rare Find in this great original condition. A MUST FOR ANY VINTAGE RADIO. Original vintage enamel shop sign’W. A The Wireless Association of Great Britain, Official Dealer’ advertising. Double sided enamel sign, light blue ground with dark blue lettering. Measures 45 cm x 61 cm. Left in the original condition as found. It needs a could clean and polish. The Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB), now known as the Wireless Association of Great Britain (WAGB), was founded as the London Wireless Club in. Later changing its name to the Wireless Society of London, and then to its current name in November 1922. Here’s a more detailed breakdown. The roots of the RSGB/WAGB can be traced back to the London Wireless Club, which was inaugurated in West Hampstead on July 5, 1913. The club initially changed its name to the Wireless Society of London at its first meeting in September 1913. In November 1922, the name was changed to the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB), with the substitution of “Great Britain” for “London” to broaden the perceived scope of the society’s work. British Wireless for the Blind Fund (BWBF). The BWBF was founded in 1928 by Ernest Beachcroft Beckwith Towse, who had lost his eyesight in action during the Boer War. The British Vintage Wireless Society (BVWS) was founded on April 25, 1976, by six enthusiasts interested in the history, science, and technology of radio.
