Genuine Antique Virol Enamel Advertising Sign. An excellent opportunity to own a iconic piece of early 20th-century British social history. This large, original single-sided enamel sign features the highly sought-after and famous tagline. Nervous People Need It. Manufactured by the legendary. This sign was designed for outdoor railway station or storefront display and has survived with fantastic character. Virol (The famous bone-marrow nutritional tonic). “Nervous People Need It”. Single-sided porcelain/vitreous enamel sign. Circa 1900s – 1920s. Width: 122cm (4 Feet / 48) x Height: 53.5cm (21 Inches). Offered in good, honest vintage condition. The sign retains remarkably strong, vibrant colors with the classic deep navy lettering contrasting beautifully against the bright orange background. As expected with a genuine, century-old street sign, it shows signs of age and weathering. There is moderate enamel loss, surface scratching, and corrosion/rusting, most notably a patch through the center word “VIROL”, along the bottom text, and around the outer edges/fixing holes. The metal retains its structural integrity and displays beautifully with an authentic, untouched patina.
