Original vintage Melox dog food vitreous enamel advertising sign, reading: “MELOX – THE FOOD OF THE DOGS” A scarce piece of British advertising, believed to date from approximately the 1930s/40s. The sign carries the maker’s name “Jordan-Bilston” in the lower-right corner. Dimensions: approximately 66cm wide × 46cm high. Single-sided enamelled steel construction, with a plain metal reverse. The original red and blue lettering remains strong and clearly readable, giving the sign plenty of character and display appeal. Please note that this is in heavily weathered, unrestored condition. There is extensive enamel loss, surface rust, corrosion, scratches, pitting and deterioration around the edges and across the face. The reverse is heavily oxidised, and some areas of metal are thin and rough. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. Despite the wear, it remains a scarce and highly decorative original sign-ideal for a vintage advertising collection, pub, café, kitchen, workshop, garage or character interior. Genuine period sign, not a modern reproduction.

Beautiful shadow printing on the red Melox script. Melox signs are some of the very best on enamel signs and this one is no exception. A lovely sign, a great size and in great condition for it’s age. Please check the photos carefully as these make up the description of condition. A real addition to any collection of Melox sign lovers.
