Firstly, this is NOT an original 1920s enamel sign, something you had probably already established by the asking price. It is however a fabulous metal pictorial sign, depicting a glorious 1920/30s Rolls-Royce with rolling wings, fronted by a large imposing grill and flanked by huge P100 headlamp’s. The artwork from the original design is from the 1920/30s so now around a 100 years old, a time when the Art Deco period was just beginning which can be seen in the mix of deco and gothic influences. A Visually appealing sign, the ” old car” instantly gives the advertising sign a period look, and with a great strap line ” drive with the sun behind you “. It’s such a punchy quote that you would be forgiven for thinking that the “sun” company was formed just to deliver that one-liner. The metal sign being offered here for sale today, as already stated is NOT an original enamel sign, however it looks just as good. The size is 20 x 30 inches as per the original. The sign is made from heavy gauge metal, and has a great patina look, it displays the beautiful colours correctly and looks a fabulous period piece for a fraction of the price of the original enamel sign.
