This is a high quality enamel sign hand made using the traditional process to create a rich deep gloss with raised detail for a truly authentic porcelain sign. 12″ x 9″ flange depth 1.5. 31 x 23cm flange depth 4cm. Material: metal plate with porcelain enamel design. We always pack with care although by the nature of genuine enamel it is common for small chips / nibbles of enamel on the edges but these just add the the authentic look as on original porcelain signs.

Original Liptons tea enamel sign. Originally would have been on a shop front. The flange / bracket is still there so you could bend it back into shape but someone has flattened it at some point. Ideal first sign or display item. The sign is faded. Please see photo for condition.

Hi you’re looking at a Lipton’s Tea” double sided enamel sign dates from around 1920 and it is in “as found condition. Sir Thomas Johnstone Lipton was a Glasgow-born entrepreneur who by 1888, had opened 300 Lipton stores, he went onto enter the tea trade and “Liptons” Teas were born. It was Thomas Lipton who was the first to package tea in small, convenient tins rather than loose leaf tea. The sign has the usual enamel losses, there are also the marks, rust stains and scuffs that you would expect from an item of this age and use. However, the green background and recessed white lettering still have a good depth of colour and gloss. We have tried to show the condition in the photographs. It measures 38 cm (15 inches) by 23 cm (9 inches). Please look at all photos and ask any questions.
