This is a genuine piece of mid-century Japanese history. This 45cm x 45cm enamel sign (kamban) was once hung outside a neighborhood corner store in Japan. The top half features the iconic red??? (Tobacco) branding in bold hiragana. The bottom blue half features the logo for (Chunichi Shimbun), one of Japan’s major regional newspapers. Vibrant Colors: The red and blue remain deep and glossy. It’s known for its diverse flavor profiles depending on the base ingredient and production methods. Unlike sake, which is brewed, shochu is distilled, similar to whiskey.
