DESCRIPTION : Here is a Lynton porcelain porter mug. Hand painted with a bowl of various fruits and leaves set on a table all within a raised gilt dotted oval frame. The lower part of the porter mug is painted on a yellow ground with a rectangular raised gilt dotted frame to the front, back and goes around each side. The front rectangular frame that houses the fruit painting is flanked by gilt leaves, raised gilt leaves having a gilt center with white dotted jewelling and a yellow enamel center as in picture 8. To the other gilt dotted frame that runs around the sides and back has a yellow enamelled dotted jewelled inner border. The main yellow ground has white enamel petal flower heads with a gilt raised dot to the center and having gilt dot patter inbetween. At each end has raised gilt leaves on a gilt mound and having a white and yellow enamel shell type decoration at each end as in picture 8. The top of the porter mug has a central urn having raised white and yellow enamel with gilt embellishment and raised dotted gilt pattern. The urn is flanked each side by gilt leafy scrolls and raised gilt flower petals and yellow enamelled centers. The handle being gilt lined with two yellow enamel dots to both sides. Signed to lower right of fruit painting A R Telford. Dates to the 1980’s. The porter mug has no mark to the base but definitely Lynton porcelain. This is a breath taking piece of work and is of museum quality. SIZE : The porter mug measures 12.5 cm high and 11 cm in diameter. Weighs 324 g before packing. CONDITION : The porter mug is in excellent condition having no chips, cracks restoration or ware. Welcome to Room 8 Interiors! Specialising in interesting vintage, antique & very often unique period items including lighting, furniture, advertising & decorative pieces. A scarce surviving example of an early vintage enamel vending machine for Nelsons Fruit Lozenges. A wonderful & very seldom seen’1d machine’ featuring some fantastic vivd colours & great slogan on the front panel. Manufactured by the Aluminium Works of Stratford Apon Avon & likely intended for use on a railway station platform. A great decorative piece, perfect for a kitchen, cafe, bar or restaurant. C1920’s Measuring around 67cm x 11.5cm x 12cm. Wear commensurate with age as pictured. With some damage/loss resulting in a hole in the top right hand corner of the front panel & numerous chips and wear to the enamel though this retains a good gloss & depth of colour. The machine has no inner workings & the top & bottom wooden panels & screws are all later replacements. That said, It’s still a great decorative piece & ready to hang.
