Bedford Circus was once a stunning crescent of buildings in Exeter, sadly lost during 2nd world war bombings. Made in the United Kingdom by the Patent Enamel Co Ltd, this sign will add a touch of nostalgia to any collection but equally works as a standalone statement piece due to its size – would look great as a bar backdrop. Description A large early 20th century Colman’s Starch white and blue enamel sign in later added oak frame. A fantastic decorative piece which has great colours and is an excellent size. The sign is in good original condition with only minor parts of damage to the enamel however, someone has tried to repair some parts using a white substance which can only be seen on close inspection. Measurements Height – 47cm Width – 164cm. Every item gets cleaned and restored (if necessary) ready for its new home. Advertising fertilisers for George Hadfield, this sign is an eye catcher. The business was Establised in 1820. The well know’Fisons’ bought the company out in 1935, leaving behind a 115 year history with George Hadfield & Company Ltd. This fertilisers enamel sign is large and quite heavy, with thick lettering. The various bits of rusting and enamel chipping leaves this with a wonderful look and feel. Hanging thread attached ready to display on your wall. Very rare and highly sort after. It is quite heavy over 4kg unwrapped weight approx. Circa early 20th century.
