This sign totally taps into the renaissance of cycling over the last decade or so – harking back to the heyday of the the two-wheeler around 100 years ago. The sign is a very rare double-sided shield-shaped sign which show its age with lots of nibbling at the edges. Thankfully the wording is largely undamaged and overall, it’s a joy to the eye. It is absolutely original and unrestored which is how they should look. I particularly like the white lettering on navy blue background and the mix of serif and sans-serif type faces. Also appealing is the size. It measures roughly 24″ x 18″ (60cms x 43cms) so it’s big enough to make itself noticed and small enough to look good in any room. It certainly has the decorative wow factor, especially with the shield shape and a century’s patina. I believe such signs are all the rage with interior designers – they must be at these sort of prices – but, if cycling’s your sport, you might want to bag yourself some cycling history with this piece of classic memorabilia. It will have been hung up originally to be viewed from two directions but it can be displayed with one side showing flat to a wall or with a grip bracket for two-sided viewing. Depending on where you live, I’d rather deliver it at a mutually convenient time but will’post’ it fully insured if requested – or if you live in a remote location.
